As an Eagan July 4th Funfest Ambassador you will be a leader in your community, meet new people, and earn a scholarship for your academic pursuits. Plus, have a year filled with fun, adventure, and personal growth. As a member of the Funfest Ambassador program you will represent your community through parades, festival attendance, coronations, and much more. You will also have the opportunity to bring awareness to many worthy causes in our community.

Become a Candidate

The Funfest scholarship program revolves around volunteerism and developing leaders who will serve as positive role models as ambassadors for the Eagan 4th of July Funfest and your community. As an ambassador you will spend a year (July 2024 – July 2025) visiting other communities throughout the Twin Cities area and meet people through parades, coronations, and other special events. You will gain valuable leadership skills, make new friends, and create memories to last a lifetime.

Candidate Requirements

Candidate Requirements

Candidates must be between 10 and 18 years old as of July 4, 2024
Candidates must live, attend school, or worship in Eagan. Or live in Apple Valley, Burnsville, Mendota, Mendota Heights, Rosemount or Sunfish Lake.
Candidates may never have been married, pregnant nor have any children.
Candidates must submit a digital photo headshot.
Candidates must submit a legible and fully completed application and contract.
Candidate and candidate parents/guardians must be available during events.
If selected as an Ambassador you must give up all other titles immediately and not enter any other similar programs during your term.
You will need to find a sponsor (sponsorship fee $300).

Candidate Process

Candidate Process

Ambassador candidate process spans over 6 weeks and gives a sample of life as an Ambassador. Candidates will acquire relationship-building skills and gain confidence in public speaking. Activities may include:

Family potluck gathering
Neighboring community event
Volunteer projects
Eagan Funfest Parade
Brain Freeze Ice Cream Eating Contest
Participation in coronation

A panel of judges will make final Ambassador selections based on public presence and behind the scenes interaction. Social skills, communication, attitude and volunteerism all play a part in the judging process. Candidate peer interaction, an orderly neat appearance, a positive, friendly personality, poise, manners and commitment are also considered during the selection process.
