Eagan’s July 4th Funfest 2018 was certainly memorable! Despite the rain, wind, thunder and lightning, tens of thousands of people came out to celebrate our country’s independence.

The music was fantastic, the food delicious, and the carnival as fun as ever. Families and friends gathered early and stayed late (and occasionally sought shelter from the wind and rain). The storm the morning of the 4th came at the worst possible time: 15 minutes before the parade was set to begin. As the beautifully decorated floats deteriorated and the crowds along Yankee Doodle dispersed, we had no choice but to cancel the parade. When people ran from the rain we witnessed neighbors helping one another quickly pack up, businesses opening up their doors, and strangers offering rides back to vehicles and were reminded of what makes this country great.

After the storms dissipated, the crowds quickly returned to the festival grounds and the rain thankfully stayed at bay through the evening, allowing for a magnificent fireworks show. Thank you to everyone who came out, the vendors, the carnival, the volunteers, and all of our sponsors: especially the city of Eagan, the Minnesota Vikings, Primrose School of Eagan, Eagan Hockey Association, Home Federal Bank, Think Mutual Bank, Applewood Pointe of Eagan, Genisys Credit Union, and Central Park Commons.

We’ll see you all at Funfest 2019!
